The NGO

Red de Empleo Alicante (Alicante's Employment

Network) brings together local NGOs and public services to boost employability and promote equal opportunities in the job market.

To achieve this, the network provides specialized courses and skill-building workshops, while select member entities directly employ individuals in need or living with disabilities who might otherwise struggle to access work.

While not managed directly by the city council, the network includes ImpulsAlicante, the council's own agency dedicated to local employment.

The challenge

The network is primarily run by volunteers and public officials who balance these responsibilities with generating visual media, despite having limited background in graphic design.

Consequently, the project's main challenge was creating a clear, recognizable visual identity that remains attractive and cohesive, while allowing non-designers to adapt it quickly with minimal effort.

The concept

The concept for this visual identity centers on a simple premise: "Showing up for you is Alicante's trademark."

Starting from that idea, the main symbol subtlely tweaks the registered trademark symbol ("®"). The visual system expands through overlapping circles that create drive and direction, while the color palette takes inspiration from everyday office essentials: neon Stabilo highlighters, classic Bic pen blue, and a grounded institutional grey.

For typography, open-source Apfel Grotesk keeps things clean and welcoming, while being freely accesible for everyone in the network. Finally, the identity connects on a personal level through headlines like: Your story deserves more than a "no"; addressing how prejudice and personal circumstances often overshadow real potential, an invitation not to give up and to make use of the network's tools for a better employability and life quality.
